Bed Bug Nightmare in London Apartment
Everyone in the UK knows about the recent outbreak of these creatures. However, one family had dealings with an extreme case of infestation way before that.
A little London apartment in the Borough of Southwark. A family of five goes to sleep every night but instead enters a living nightmare. Thousands of bed bugs crawl out from every nook and cranny to get their bite-sized share of the living buffet.
The tenants buy insecticide and change sleeping rooms, but the pesky bloodsuckers keep returning. The infestation has spread so widely that every room is filled with thousands of them. They contact their landlord, who in turn calls professional pest control services.
The exterminators entered the premises and started investigating the premises. What they discovered soon shocked even them. There was a living wall of bed bugs underneath the mattress of the parents. Treatment was applied in every room.
Once it was safe to come home, the family returned. However, even though it was safe, the psychological toll lingered. They continued suffering from sleepless nights and paranoia about the potential return of the bed bugs.
Asian Giant Hornet Menace in Kent
A farming family woke up one day and discovered that hundreds of bees lay dead near and around their beehives. What’s worse is that when the people got close, they found that most of them had parts of their bodies missing. As if they were eaten alive.
This immediately rang a bell that there was perhaps a predator nearby, probably wasps. The sons of the old farmer went to inspect the fields around the beehives. After a while, they discovered a wasp nest in the ground next to the roots of an old tree.
This is when the younger of the sons, who was closer to it, felt something hit his cheek at a high speed. He uttered a yell and heard a threatening buzzing sound and saw they both saw were the largest wasps they had ever seen.
His elder brother shouted for them to run, and as they did so, the huge wasps chased after them and stung them repeatedly. Once they got back to safety, they thought they had to wait until it was dark to spread insecticidal dust and kill the accursed wasps.
However, after looking online for the exact species of wasp, they discovered they had a nest of Asian Giant hornets at their property.
They immediately used the UK’s Asian Giant Hornet Control App to alert the authorities. The pest control specialists came and disposed of the nest. The family, happy that the matter was resolved quickly, still marvelled at the thought that they had seen such a foreign pest out there in the UK.
Rats In The Walls of a Manchester House
A young family moved into a two-story Manchester home. Their two adolescent daughters shared a room on the second floor. However, they soon started hearing strange noises coming from the walls at night.
The two girls got spooked and called their parents, but they didn’t pay much attention and told them there was nothing and to go back to sleep. That is, until one night, they heard it, too. The father called the local pest control company. The specialists began inspecting the place, looking for the usual telltale signs of a rat infestation.
They soon discovered the hole through which the rodents entered the cavity wall. Marvelling at their craftiness, the pest control specialist decided to lay traps and reduce their numbers before they patched the hole.
The remaining rodents were trapped inside the cavity wall until, one day, they stopped making noises for good.
Cockroach Catastrophe in a Glasgow Home
A big family of five were returning from vacation when the father noticed a huge brown cockroach coming out from under the front door. Before the wife screamed, he quickly stepped on it and squashed the menace.
However, an unpleasant feeling about what they’d find once they got inside their home settled in their stomachs.
At first glance, everything seemed fine, though. All expect some little black dots around the kitchen counter, to which initially they paid no mind. The family looked in the rest of the rooms, and then they moved on to unpacking their luggage.
Later in the early evening, while they were watching Netflix, the woman got up to finish making the snacks which she had left on the counter. What she discovered in the kitchen made her scream her lungs out. An army of cockroaches, some big, some small, were all over the food.
The husband came rushing in, and they started squashing the bug menace, but most of them got away. They got a common store spray against cockroaches and bait traps and applied them, thinking they’d deal with the menace themselves.
However, when they noticed cockroaches running along the walls in their kids’ rooms, they knew they had to get exterminators. The pros located the main entry points, which was a cavity around the pipe under the sink.
The roaches, who are well known for their ability to squeeze through any gap, had come from the sewer. This was quickly sealed and the matter of new cockroaches coming in was solved. Now, the pest control specialists had to deal with the ones already infesting the home.
Careful inspection revealed most of the locations where the female cockroaches had laid the eggs. Missing just a few of them meant the roaches would infest the home again within a month. After careful clean-up of the eggs, pesticides were used in order to kill off the remaining bugs.
The family, who had stayed over at a friend’s home, finally returned once it was safe. Walking around their home, inspecting the results of the pest specialists, they finally sighed in relief, happy that the nightmare was over.
